Why watching le Tour de France is bad for my checking account

Just bought my husband a ridiculously expensive bike. Because he's decided to ride a century race. That has a trail run component.

Great.

Now we are one of those couples. You know, those outdoorsy couples who like do stuff together.

Since when are Princesses outdoorsy? (y'all should have seen me in the bike shop--wildly hilarious)

Let's hope the bike is an actual investment and the novelty doesn't wear off after the race.

He's out riding right now.

Like a damn little kid on Christmas morning.

Currently, I'm trying not to eat myself out of house and home--after all, I did finish a 15k race today. Let's not talk about all the food I've managed to plow through today. Why am I always so damn hungry after a silly little race? Hmmm...

Happy weekend y'all!

PS. I should note that my darling husband is a cyclist--this is not some on the whim thing, we have been discussing it for a long time, but, the Princess usually puts the kibosh on these things. Until today. Just so we're clear.

Hopefully he sticks with it! Maybe he'll be the next Lance ;)

SP, I just ran a 25 K this morning. I am wiped out!

Suggested idea:
My coach said if a runner is super hungry after a run, it could be because they were running in a higher heart-rate zone. He suggested trying to run in the fat-burning heart rate zone (i.e. go much slower) then the body will use FAT for energy instead of all the SUGAR in the system.

Good luck in recovery.

I think that's very supportive of you! I love that he's a cyclist - I owned a road bike for a little while when I lived near White Rock and I was terrified on that damn thing - it takes a special person to be able to ride those things at top speed!

If he is doing the HTH 100 in Wichata Falls this August... let me know, because Newlywed Husband is riding it for the 4th (or 5th, I can't keep count) year in a row! E-mail me if he needs a training buddy, I'm sure that NH and his friends would welcome another rider :) Congrats on the 15k!

Wow! He's a cyclist and you're a marathon runner!! You ARE one of those outdoorsy couples!!! Hey it's not all bad. I dream of being at least half of an outdoorsy couple. I'd settle for semi-active anyway! LOL

15K - woohoo!

Our boys need their toys every now and again. I was also nervous when the Anonymous Husband invested in his road bike, but it makes him happy & he has continued to use it, thankfully.

Well honestly, good for you two! I'm more of a, sit by the race sipping champagne, kind of girl, but I always appreciate those who get out there & do it!
