Really James Cameron, really?

(psst, spoiler alert)

So, in efforts of being a good sport, I donned my 1980s Ran Ban -esque 3D glasses and followed the masses to go see Avatar. Since everyone and their brother is telling me "omg, it's the greatest movie ever".

Please note that I'm not really a sci fi movie person. I was totally lost in Star Trek having never seen an episode and it's just not my genre, but, I'll usually go see it and end up liking it. I had high hopes for this especially since I had sclepped everyone to see Sherlock Holmes the day before I wanted this to be a movie we would all enjoy.

So, we paid the damn $13 each (highway robbery I tell you) and took our seats.

And then I checked out after about 30 minutes. I tried to enjoy it--I really, really tried. I wanted to enjoy it. I like basically every movie I see, I'm pretty easy to please in that regard. I went in there with an open mind and thought if nothing else it's a few hours away from the house.

And it was. But, it's hard to enjoy 2.5 hours of political statements being crammed down my throat. Seriously, James Cameron, we get it: go green, love the earth, we get it.

Although I'm sure that nerds around the world were rejoicing: alien sex, alien sex!

That might have been a little much.

But, who am I to judge? I'm the girl that finds Borat wildly offensive yet hilarious nonetheless. I'm not on The Academy, I've never taken a film course, obviously, I know nothing.

Expect that blue alien sex was just a little much for me. I'm not saying it's not a great movie, it just wasn't up my alley. And I really can't get over the alien sex.

I actually have to disagree with you on this one...rare. I HATE scifi and actually liked this...I was surprised at how much I liked it. However I totally agree with you...he had a hidden political agenda or something. All the white people ruining the land preserved by the blue people..all the blue people were either of african or hispanic heritage..sort of funny. Yes, we know, we stole this land from the Native Americans and now we are ruining it..blah, blah, blah. I just hope we don't really see these blue people in our future, they all had perfect bodies!

My husband has been dying to see this, but I think I'll skip it now that I know there's alien sex in it (really?). Thanks!

aaahhaha, I'm dying over the Alien Sex comment! SO FUNNY!

My husband and I just went on a day-date to see the movie on Tuesday. I am a pretty good sport and can tolerate a lot of different kinds of movies. But I honestly felt dumber after watching that movie.

I felt they were trying to make it be this great epic sci-fi...but it was just a cartoon-y alien Pocahontas. Same ole story: cowboys vs. indians. Minus the horribly unveiled political green message.

Whew. how winded was this comment? Apparently I have an opinion about the movie. ;)

Happy Wednesday!
